When Ron was writing this book he was thinking back on his life when he was a criminal. He was a person that didn't know how to do anything else except sell drugs and steal from people. He got caught, and understood that there was more in life than stealing and selling drugs. The book really looks back on his life and shows all the bad things that he did. It shows that there is a better person inside everyone. When Ron was writing this book he was thinking back on his life when he was a criminal. This book would be great for children/ young adults to read that have been trouble with the law or those who clearly are on the way. I really enjoyed this book it's a good read and it tells a life story of someone who lived on the edge from the ripe age of 12. He was called a loser by classmates and then won a state chess championship. After that he went to prison almost every weekend for charges of adultery battery and assault. At 15 he was tried for an adult case and was sentenced to prison for a few months.
After that it got serious. He started with marijuana then moved into cocaine because the demand and the constant availability. He sent people on vacation then made them dive home with a truckload of illegal substances then got rid of them in a week. I really liked this book for what it is and it actually has facts about drugs.
...more I started to read this book because like Ron and his target audience, I was slipping into a life of street crime, violence and anger, and drugs. I had actually met him when I was twelve at a presentation he had given at my school, and I really connected to it due to my families long history with street gangs and thug mentality. I had gotten this copy signed by him and sent to me, and then started to read it but found myself not connecting to it as much as I thought I would so I shelved it. Now it's 4 years later and I found myself in the beginning stages of getting caught up in "the life" and had finally gotten caught by my mother for the first time. So as I was sitting in my room, I looked for books to read, and had dusted it off and started reading, not being able to take my eyes off of it because I related to it so much more. A personal thank you to Ron and his insight and time put into this book, it may not be a Great Gatsby literally masterpiece, but it was a help and a start to turn my life on another pattern, a better one, which makes it a literally masterpiece to me. Thank you Ron and all the others who worked tirelessly on this book, and may God bless you. ...more
This book was a great eye opener into what some parts of the world are really like. It was really good towards the beginning and then, after a while the last couple chapters were rrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyy slow. P.S.... I met the author! He's a really cool guy :) Great to know that you really do have the ability to change and direct your own path in life.

...more I read this because I work in a juvenile prison and I'd told one of the boys to read it. So I read it first and created a book report. It's very elementary, and attempts to argue that there's no such thing as a successful criminal. I'm not sure it really got through to my student. I'm not sure the argument is strong enough. But I think for a teenager it was still a fun and easy read. I read this because I work in a juvenile prison and I'd told one of the boys to read it. So I read it first and created a book report. A meth addict's father recommended this book to me as a coping method. The author educates the reader (and the addict) how to re-evaluate criminal behavior and utilize it in straight society.
